Kids today are indeed computer literate. In some cases, they appear to have more knowledge using the computer than other adults. As cyber age progresses, cyber bullying is now quite evident among kids. Your kids might be one of them.
So, what is cyber bullying? It is a form of bully but it happens either in cell phones or in the internet. It can be either a public humiliation, harassment, or it can be both. Bullying used to happen in school or in playground where more kids are involved. But today, with the advancement in modern technology, any child can now be bullied in the internet or through cell phones.
Bullying has many negative effects on a child. It can affect him or her emotionally and even mentally. Some kids who happen to experience such form of bullying might no longer use the internet because he or she is afraid to be bullied again. And some kids no longer wants to go to school for the same reason. Social development of the child might also be affected. In other words, cyber bullying like other forms of bullying can definitely damage your child’s well being. Their self esteem and their self confidence and also their physical security is affected when there is bullying.
You as parents or guardians should know that your child won’t probably let you know that they are being bullied. They might be embarrassed or they simply won’t let you know that they went into certain websites which supposed to be, they shouldn’t be on. As parents, you very well know the negative effects of cyber bullying. So make sure to give enough time to check out on your kids and make sure that their future is not at risk.
